Squash League Results February 8, 2012

The second session of Wednesday Night League started, bigger and better than ever.  There are 20 participants and several new faces.  The league welcomes Yan Cormier, Tyler Tobin, Wills Tobin, Christian Danis, Dominic Ciarallo, Stephane Demers, Eric DiLullo, Stephane Poirier and Mike Pouliot.

Tyler and Yan, both new to the game, were impressive as they went neck to neck right down to the wire. It was so close that a brawl almost broke out between Brenda, Darnley and Dwight about how to determine who had won.  A panel of experts was called in plus a few mathematical wizards, but finally all the numbers eventually pointed to one winner – Yan.

Wills, did not have an opponent for his very first ever squash match.  Jerry Poole substituted.  Thanks, Jerry!

Eric and Stephane, two of the tallest players, gave it all to thrill the fans.  Time ran out, the score was tied, the players left the court and were then called back to see who would get the next two points.  Eric was victorious.

Ed came back from a squash eye injury and it looked like he had taken some kind of martial art in his absence.  He fought like a Ninja. The fans were impressed.  Maurice held his ground and Ed went down 3-1.

Monique’s experience shone as she defeated the newcomer Christian.

Dominic’s opponent, Laura, was still in Florida, so Jerry did the honors and gave Dominic a match. Thanks again, Jerry!

Geoff and Zach thrilled the audience with their speed and prowess.  Geoff has steadily worked his way up the ladder and it is obvious why. The guy does not give up. Watch out Yves Quennville!  Don’t get too comfortable in your number one spot!  Even with his amazing performance, Zach was defeated 3-1.

Sigi and Stephane were well matched and played with great style. Sigi was defeated 3-1, but Stephane had to fight for every point.

Mike, another newcomer, had the pleasure of meeting number 1, his first time out. Yves won 3-0, but Mike showed some of his former greatness and now everyone is wondering – “Could he be the One?”

Yves was heard booking a squash lesson with Darnley after the match.  Is Yves hearing footsteps?

Tune in next week.
