Wednesday Night League Results – February 15, 2012.

The league this week was like an episode from General Hospital.

Yan injured his back as he battled Wills right to the wire and narrowly won by a few points. The two players, both new to the game, have been taking lessons from Darnley and it shows.

Tyler won by default, because Tony was out of town.

Eric suffered stomach cramps, continued to play, but was defeated by Philippe 3 – 1.

Stephane Poirier came down with the flu and had to forfeit to Brian at the last minute. Brian’s arch rival, Gary Nash, who talks like Austin Powers, was called as a replacement and the score was so close a panel of judges was called in to render a decision. Brian was declared the winner.

Monique and Maurice, M&M, had a great match with Maurice the victor 3 – 0.

Laura, looking tanned and slim after her vacation, showed Geoff what the “touch” game was all about. As he left the court, panting, Geoff was heard exclaiming that if he didn’t hit the ball deep or tight to the wall he was a dead man.  In spite of Laura’s brilliant play, Geoff won 3 – 2.

Dominic and Zack were like two Titans on the court. Tall, dressed in black, they were awesome to watch. The crowd was cheering and screaming and clapping, but there could only be one winner and that was Dominic  3 – 1.

Mike, coming off a 5 year hiatus, was matched with Stephane, a very fit and capable racquetball player. Mike gave everything he had to win the first game, but Stephane’s superior conditioning gave him the advantage as the match continued. In the spirit of Austin Powers, Brenda told Stephane he had his Mojo working, but Stephane didn’t know what she was talking about. How does one translate Mojo into French?

Sigi played like a true champion, but could not dethrone Yves. A private stategy session has been planned with one agenda – “Get Yves!” Everyone is welcome, except Yves.

Next week is the final of the three matches. Some will go up and some will go down and some will stay exactly where they are. Tune in for the tears and cheers.
